I have runn CCleaner hoping that perhaps a registry problem was the cause, but this did not resolve the issue either. I just had the same problem with IE9 and I ran Windows update a few times and it seemed to fix it. You may also want to get a second opinion from another antivirus program if you already have antivirus software installed.
